Number 21. The Wilcomb House. Though named the Wilcomb House, it was actually built by John Edwards. The name comes from a later owner, Joseph Wilcomb. Like many of the Wilcombs, he made his livelihood on the sea. He was a captain of many ships, perhaps the most famous was the Malay, which was owned by Augustine Heard. This house is a fine, and frequently photographed, early house. Most of the 1600's houses faced south as this one does.
