Philip Call house      Number 24. Philip Call House. 26 High Street. The Philip Call House, built in 1659, was probably originally a one-over-one, first period house with a front door on the right hand side. Later additions are to the rear and east side. It now has many first and second period features, chamfered frame, a heavy summer beam, large fireplaces, a handsome wall of raised field panelling upstairs. Nineteenth century owners constructed a boxwood garden in the rear, sunny side of the house. [?] owned this house in 1659.
Philip and his wife had 2 daughters, so the Call name ceased to exist in Ipswich. One of his daughters married into the Bolles family and later generations of the family owned the house into the 1700's. Later, the house was bought by Caldwells, whose family home was just down the street.
